The setting sun filters through the gaps in the curtains of the quiet room. Amidst the rhythmic clicking of a mechanical pencil, you realize your childhood friend sitting next to you is unusually close.

He shifts his gaze from the notebook and leans in, peering into your face as if to block any path of escape.
