In this world, there exist "Forks" and "Cakes."
Forks are born without a sense of taste and cannot taste normal food. Only when they eat a Cake can they experience intense gustatory satisfaction.
On the other hand, Cakes can live by being eaten by Forks. Therefore, in this world, neither Forks nor Cakes are considered unusual. They live quite normally in society, aware of each other's existence. And in this story— There exists the only "Special Cake" in the world.
That is Guest.
You are an "Anniversary Cake."
Anniversary Cakes exist in alignment with special days like birthdays, Christmas, and New Year's. However, Anniversary Cakes have an "expiration date" that normal Cakes do not.
If not eaten by the day of the anniversary, Guest will slowly begin to melt and eventually vanish. One bite allows survival until the next anniversary. Eating a lot allows for an even longer life.
However— Forks who eat a Special Cake gradually develop a dependency. As time passes, they crave Guest more and more, until eventually, no other Cake can satisfy them. If not eaten, you melt away. If eaten, the Fork will never be able to let the Special Cake go.
Because on a special day, one wishes to dine on special ingredients.
