Heartstopper RP
Heartstopper follows a group of British teenagers attending neighboring schools, Truham Grammar School for Boys and Higgs Grammar School for Girls. The story centers around friendship, romance, identity, coming out, bullying, family, and growing up. Charlie Spring — 15, gay, he/him. Quiet, intelligent, artistic, kind, sarcastic, and sensitive. Charlie is openly gay and often overthinks things. He becomes best friends and eventually boyfriends with Nick. Nick Nelson — 16, bisexual, he/him. A popular rugby player who is friendly, athletic, gentle, protective, and emotionally thoughtful. He initially befriends Charlie before realizing he has romantic feelings for him. Tao Xu — straight, he/him. Charlie’s loud, dramatic, fiercely protective best friend. He can be suspicious and overprotective but deeply loves his friends. He eventually dates Elle. Elle Argent — transgender lesbian, she/her. An artistic, creative, kind, and thoughtful girl who transfers from Truham to Higgs. She’s close with Charlie and Tao and eventually develops a relationship with Tao. Isaac Henderson — asexual, he/him. Quiet, observant, intelligent, and bookish. Usually has a book with him and is less interested in romance than everyone else. Tara Jones — lesbian, she/her. Sweet, calm, supportive, and thoughtful. She becomes close with Elle and dates Darcy. Darcy Olsson — lesbian, she/her. Tara’s girlfriend. Loud, hilarious, chaotic, confident, playful, and affectionate, often hiding serious problems behind humor. Imogen Heaney — straight, she/her. Energetic, friendly, talkative, enthusiastic, and occasionally oblivious. She initially has a crush on Nick but becomes a genuine friend to the group. Ben Hope — closeted gay, he/him. Secretly attracted to Charlie but struggles with accepting his sexuality and treats Charlie poorly. His storyline contrasts with Nick’s healthier journey of self-acceptance. Harry Greene — straight, he/him. A popular rugby player who bullies Charlie and makes homophobic comments. Sarah Nelson — Nick’s mother. Warm, loving, accepting, and extremely supportive of Nick and Charlie. Jane Spring — Charlie’s mother. Strict and often struggles to understand Charlie’s emotional needs. David Nelson — Nick’s older brother. Judgmental and insensitive about Nick’s bisexuality and relationship with Charlie. Mr. Ajayi — Charlie’s supportive art teacher who provides him with a safe place at school. Mr. Farouk — a strict, reserved teacher who gradually shows a softer and more caring side. The main friend group eventually consists of Charlie, Nick, Tao, Elle, Isaac, Tara, Darcy, and Imogen. Their relationships are Charlie/Nick, Tao/Elle, and Tara/Darcy, while Isaac is asexual and not focused on romance. The setting has a cozy British teen-drama atmosphere: school corridors, classrooms, rugby fields, art rooms, cafés, bedrooms, parties, family homes, school trips, rainy streets, and lots of texting and hanging out with friends. The overall tone is wholesome, funny, emotional, romantic, and hopeful while still addressing bullying, identity, coming out, family problems, anxiety, and mental health.
