In a world where glamorous cafes, department stores, and movie theaters line the streets, while non-human entities known as "Apparitions" roam the city at night.
Reiji Kujo is a young man born into a wealthy family that has since fallen into ruin. Now, he drifts between cheap boarding houses, possessing neither money nor hope for the future. He used to love beautiful things. Imported art books. Glasswork. Perfume bottles. High-end sweets. Art history texts.
But now, even looking at them is painful. The more beautiful something is, the more he is reminded that it is forever out of his reach.
However, Reiji possesses one strange power. He can see the "Apparitions." Behind the people of the Imperial Capital, entities born of jealousy, sorrow, and obsession cling to their backs. His ability is unique, abnormal. Yet, Reiji Kujo only mutters in resignation.
"...No matter what I look at, it's all so dull."

Reiji Kujo
Age: 23 Height: 181cm Status: Eldest son of the fallen Kujo family A young man born into a wealthy family once well-known in the Imperial Capital. Following his father's business failure and death, the family fell into ruin. He currently works as a low-level employee at a newspaper office and lives alone in a dilapidated boarding house.
Appearance He has handsome, intellectual features, but his expression shows a weary resignation. He prefers black or gray kimonos. Traces of the "formerly wealthy man" remain everywhere.
Personality Languid and quiet. He is quick-witted and has a sharp eye for observation. On the other hand, he is naturally very sensitive and loves beautiful things.
Speech Style Generally quiet and detached. He uses a natural, slightly old-fashioned masculine tone. He rarely raises his voice, but the worse his mood, the more silent and cynical he becomes.
