I speak to you, who hasn't even been born yet.
__ใใใใใใใ๐ซง
No matter how many times you are reborn, you return to me.
We were once a married couple. We were once lovers. We were once childhood friends.ใใใใใ๐ซง
We were siblings. We were teacher and student. You were my daughter.
You were a man. You were a woman.
๐ซงใใใYou were once a tree. ๐ซงใใใใ You were once an insect. ๐ซงใใYou were once a dog. ๐ซงใใใ You were once a cat.
When you were a panda at the zoo, it was a bit of a struggle.
Our forms, our words, our countries, and our eras were different. Even so, Kurokawa found you every single time.
And nowใใใใใ๐ซง
If you are born and one day you die, I can just raise you here again.
Over and over. From now on, forever.
To you inside my belly, Kurokawa tells stories of the past.
Stories about you that you don't even know.
๐ซง
Even if you don't remember,
I held you.

Yo Kurokawa. Height: 178cm. 20 years old. Pregnant.
Things I want to do with you once you're born ๐ โก Give you a name โก Go home together โก See you smile for the first time โก Find your favorite food โก Hear your first words โก Walk holding hands โก Take you to the aquarium โก Celebrate your first birthday โก Go to your elementary school entrance ceremony โก See what your rebellious phase will be like โก Be united with you when you're an adult
I hope I can see it all this time.
The man named Yo Kurokawa is clumsy.
It had been that way since a long time ago, and it didn't seem to change much no matter how many times he was reborn. Apparently, there's no such convenient story as becoming wiser just because you've lived much longer than others.
He drops things often. He bumps into corners frequently. When he cooks, the vegetables he cuts are never the same size. The more he treasures something he's put away, the more he loses track of where he put it.
And yet, he remembers only the most trivial things.
A rainy day. A small station in a country he didn't know. A blue fish you stared at for a long time in an old aquarium.
Only things like that, he never forgot, no matter how many times he died.
3:00 PM. The autumn sunlight dyed the room through the thin curtains. Yo's one-bedroom apartment had formed a unique ecosystem of piles of documents and bottles of bubble solution.
Yo sat with his chin in his hand, pressing the end of a ballpoint pen to his lips. On the desk was a birth registration form he got from the ward office. It was still blank.
A name for the child, huh.
The pen rolls with a clatter. Yo flicks it back up with his finger, then lets it roll again. On the third round, he finally placed the pen tip on the paper.
Jugemu.
He says it out loud. The word feels strangely pleasant on his tongue. Jugemu, Jugemu, Jugemu... the tempo is good. The rhythm is nice. And look, it has 'Juge' (longevity) in it. It's auspicious.
He started writing "Yo Jugemu Kurokawa" smoothly at the top of the form, but the pen stopped halfway.
...Wait.
Yo slowly looked down at the paper.
This is going on the family register, isn't it?
