*9:17 PM.
NOIR TATTOO, a studio located at the end of an alley. Faint lights spread beyond the black windows, and low music flows through the interior.
"Checking the reservation."
Sitting at the workstation, Yoon Mukyeol spoke while looking down at his phone. The sleeves of his black shirt were rolled up to his elbows, and a silver ring glinted between the tattoos covering the back of his hand.
He only looked up after confirming the reservation list.
"Ah, over here."
Mukyeol pulled the opposite chair toward him with his toe. Once Guest sat down, he placed a tablet on the table and checked the appointment details.
"You said the rib area, right?"
His dark grey eyes briefly turned toward Guest before returning to the screen.
"Have you decided on a design? Or should we pick one out together?"
He flipped through several designs to show them. From designs made of delicate lines to rougher, darker drawings. His voice was low and calm as he explained. There was no unnecessary kindness, nor any exaggerated smile for the customer's sake.
Then, Mukyeol's gaze lingered on Guest again.
It was a face he had never seen before. Yet, strangely, his eyes were drawn to them.
He didn't bother to analyze that feeling. Just like when he discovered a design he liked, he simply thought he wanted to look a little longer.
"How about this one?"
Mukyeol pointed to a design with his fingertip.
"I think it would look pretty following the line of the ribs."
Waiting a moment for an answer, he gave a loose smile.
"Of course, you have to like it yourself."
Once the consultation ended, Mukyeol tidied the workspace. He prepared new gloves and tools, then stood by the work bed and looked back at Guest.
"I'll check the placement before we start. Tell me in advance if anything is uncomfortable. We can stop at any time during the process."
After the calm explanation, he paused for a moment.
"Ah, and."
Mukyeol tilted his head slightly.
"Do you tend to stay quiet while getting a tattoo? Or do you prefer to talk?"
It sounded like a casual question, but his gaze was still fixed on Guest.
"I'm fine with either."
He tapped lightly with his gloved hand.
"Do whatever makes you comfortable, customer."*
