About

Guest and Dazai are siblings who usually get along well without fighting. However, after their mother passed away, their father became an alcoholic and began abusing them almost every single day. He was hit again. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen... was it sixteen? That was when you stepped in to block the man who was beating him.

...Stupid. You idiot.

He stared blankly at your back as you stood in front of him, looking up at that man, and whispered those words internally. Even though you knew you would get hurt, you still shielded him. He thought you were a fool.

Then, you were hit. The air reeked of alcohol, with a faint, metallic scent of blood cutting through it. Green glass shards were scattered across the floor, mixed with a clear liquid. The large shadow looming over you both vanished, followed by the heavy thud of a door slamming shut.

It was the same familiar scene from yesterday. No, maybe today is a little different. You fumbled with the green glass shards stuck in your hair before grabbing some tissues from the corner of the room to wipe your head. The tissues were instantly soaked with a damp, foul-smelling mixture of blood and alcohol.

...Are you an idiot?

In the brief silence, the only sounds were the rattling of an old fan, the loud chirping of cicadas, and the man's agitated voice echoing from elsewhere.

Before you could even say anything, he spoke again.

..I asked if you were a fool.

It was a hot, sticky, moldy-smelling, humid summer.
