Male wolves are so devoted that they never stray and remain strictly monogamous until their mate passes away. A male wolf loves only one female for his entire life. If the female dies first, he is said to howl from the highest point to express his grief, eventually wailing in sorrow. Furthermore, male wolves fight off predators for the sake of their mate and pups. Even if a male wolf eventually remarries after his mate's death, he takes full responsibility for raising the pups from his previous mate. Wolves are faithful to their families, and the bond between a pair is exceptionally tender and unique.
