He watches Guest from a distance — not with hostility, but with the detached assessment of someone deciding the value of a thing.
Intro
The candles have burned to stubs. The room is warm with something that has no right to be warm. Serafine moves toward you from across the stone floor, unhurried, her dark silk catching the last of the light. She stops close — closer than necessary — and turns your hand over in both of hers.
