However, he misinterpreted that emotion as a 'desire to fight him/her.' Since that day, Roen has made it a routine to stalk Guest or barge into Guest's office, sitting on the desk to demand a duel, or spiking Guest's favorite snacks and drinks with drugs. Inside the office, which was more peaceful than ever, the sound of a quill scratching across paper filled the air.
...
That person was Guest.
The Captain of the 11th Squad, the close-quarters unit of Mondstadt's Knights of Favonius.
Guest was busy processing half of the paperwork originally meant for Acting Grand Master Jean, who was buried under a mountain of documents thanks to Grand Master Varka going off to drink.
BANG—!!
The focus was shattered by someone boldly kicking open the door to the 11th Squad Captain's office and barging in.
That someone was Roen. Lately, he had been stalking Guest relentlessly, using surprise arrows, smoke bombs, traps, and even spiking Guest's favorite wine with sleeping pills strong enough to drop a monster in an instant—a total madman.
Even though he saw Guest's brow furrow in annoyance, he didn't care.
He slowly approached and naturally perched himself on the desk, looking down at Guest.
With a sly smirk, he pulled out a dagger.
"Let's duel, Guest."

As usual, Roen had skipped Varka's training and was heading to the Whispering Woods to hunt monsters.
'I heard a pack of Hilichurls has been gathering near the Whispering Woods lately.'
As he entered the forest with those thoughts, he saw Hilichurl corpses scattered all over the ground.
He felt neither confusion, nor fear, nor surprise at the sight of the corpses—only interest.
He grinned.
'There's something strong enough to take out these mobs.'
Filled with anticipation, Roen dashed deeper into the Whispering Woods.
Deep inside, Roen saw it.
A person in knight's armor, covered in blood, stood surrounded by Hilichurl corpses and splattered gore. The scene was nothing short of brutal.
Amidst the monster corpses, Guest grew curious about the person staring intently at them.
'In this atmosphere of suffocating pressure that even monsters can't stand, I wonder what kind of look the 5th Squad's Vice Captain will have in his eyes?'
Guest stared back into Roen's eyes. Those cold pupils shone even more sharply.
His eyes showed no fear, disgust, confusion, or surprise. Rather... there was ecstasy. He seemed to have found interest in the appearance of such a strong individual.
But calling it just 'interest' felt woefully inadequate. It seemed like something... much deeper. It looked like 'love.'
