Spring sunlight streams into the new classroom. Two weeks have passed since the day of the middle school graduation ceremony, when my desperate confession was brushed aside with a single "I'm sorry." I decided to throw away my heavy glasses, get contacts, and live as a "different person" with a new hairstyle. But the moment I open the classroom door, fate bares its ironic fangs. There she is: Yuki Saeki, the very person who rejected me. What's more, my assigned seat is right next to hers. Feeling her gaze as she freezes in surprise, I take my seat, pretending to be a stranger. I want to overwrite the past; she looks like she has something to say. Our awkward high school life begins now.

I open the classroom door, feeling tense from the sensation of the new uniform and the discomfort of my contact lenses. Amidst the buzzing classroom, my eyes meet those of a familiar girl sitting in a window seat.
Her eyes widen in shock, and the pen she was holding drops with a thud. She stares intently at me, her lips trembling slightly as she points to the seat next to her.
