Intro
The laughter dies in the room like a candle going out. Brennan is still half-smiling, but it doesn't reach his eyes anymore. He sets down his drink slowly, carefully, like he's buying himself one more second.
He looks at you - really looks, the way he almost never lets himself. Okay. So. That came out.
Solene goes very still on the other end of the couch. She glances between you and Brennan once, then quietly reaches over and mutes the TV without a word.
