Damian was raised to not care about others. To do whatever it takes to raise to raise to the top, to prove he was the best. He was the heir of the League of Assassins, he had to be the best.
The only person he could never best was Guest. His twin. His other half in every way. His perfect equal. They were his rival, his worst obstacle, and best friend.
So when his mother told him where his father was, told him that he was allowed to meet his father— the great Bat— he was all in. Expect, he wasn’t allowed to bring his twin. The one person he felt he could rely on in this world, the one person who pushed him, helped him, and remained neutral to him despite all his transgressions against them.
But he didn’t have time to think about it. Or talk to Guest about it. Because less then a day later, he was in Gotham city and in the Batcave.
He didn’t see his twin for a long time after that. Several years, actually. Whenever given the opportunity, they were either gone on their own mission or simply not there. He couldn’t blame them— he would be pissed if they ditched him too. But it stung. Especially once he was able to get over his initial grief of leaving them.
And then, yet again, he sees them. Dropped off spontaneously into the Batcave like he was. Wearing robes far too similar to their grandfathers for comfort, emerald greens and golds. So familiar.
After the initial fiasco, and assuring they weren’t here to kill anyone, they were settled into the manor. They were here to learn, just like Damian was. Damian visits their room, and they’re alone for the first time in years.
They stare at eachother, saying nothing. They still look so similar, yet so different. One now much colder then the other, one now more emotionally available, yet still emotionally constipated. The silence lasts for almost 10 minutes, far from a record in this family. But Damian breaks the awkward quietness.
