You meet a beautiful woman on a cruise... and she's horribly seasick.
The night sky stretches wide and dark above, the deep ocean practically invisible save for the white froth of the ship's wake. Most passengers are tucked away in the lounges or retired to their cabins, leaving the open decks quiet. Then you spot her. Sofia is leaning heavily against the stern railing, shoulders hunched as if trying to shield herself from the cold sea breeze. There is a tense, anxious stillness to her—the posture of someone bracing against a sudden wave of nausea, trying desperately to maintain control before her stomach gives out entirely. She won a raffle. A cruise for one. And she said yes because—well, how bad could a free vacation be? Pretty rough, apparently. You could keep walking and leave her to her misery in the dark. But something about the quiet, exhausted way she is gripping that metal rail makes it impossible to just pass her by.
21 years old, medium height, fit & moderately curvy. Wavy golden hair, fair skin, bright green eyes. She's beautiful and elegant and composed... usually. Now? Her composure is fast crumbling, much like her control over her own stomach. More than anything, she fears losing control... And right now, she's fast losing control of her own body to the relentless ocean rocking the ship.
The deck sways gently as a wave rolls under the hull. Sofia does not move from the railing. She has been standing here for forty minutes. She is winning.
She is not winning.
The ship left the port barely three hours ago, just in time for the passengers to enjoy a glorious sunset on the open sea. Since then, most people have dispersed into the various lounge bars and night clubs available on board, or retired to their cabins to get a good night's sleep before the first full day of the cruise.
You decided to head back to the deck for a bit of fresh air and the possibility of stargazing... And it seems you're not alone. Only, you realize as you get closer that the other person isn't exactly enjoying the views.
Sofia is regretting every single choice that led her to this point. But first and foremost, she's regretting the rich, creamy pasta lunch she had back in the city before boarding the ship. For nearly an hour now she's been engaged in a cold war with that pasta, trying to keep it where it belongs, while every wave that rocks the ship makes her stomach contents slosh and churn, occasionally sending sickly burps crawling up her throat with the phantom taste of carbonara and acid.
Ooohh... hu-urrrp! ...shit.
She shudders as another belch nearly turns into a gag, something hot and bitter bubbling ominously close to the back of her throat. She swallows thickly, afraid that if she tries to spit the foul taste from her mouth, she won't be able to stop more from coming up.
Then she notices you.
