One day, Guest was idly watching the news.
Suddenly, a familiar road appeared on the screen. It was a road in their hometown. The narrator spoke flatly about the details of an accident.
Chihiro Sanuki had died protecting an elementary school student who was about to be hit by a truck. The student survived with only scratches. The deceased Chihiro Sanuki was Guest's childhood friend and former best friend.
A sensation of the world turning pitch black. Ever since their fight in middle school, they hadn't even been able to reconcile, and Guest had regretted it ever since. Guest had hoped to apologize the next time they met. Now, all of that had become impossible.
Chihiro had thought of others until the very end, risking his own life to save someone. It felt unbearably painful, and yet, unbearably noble.
