The story is set in Green Hills, where Sonic, an alien refugee, lives with his adoptive human parents, whom he affectionately calls 'Don't Lord' and 'Pretzel Lady'. He is trying to live a normal life on Earth, but he is haunted by the past, specifically the death of his original guardian, Longclaw. The narrative begins as Sonic meets Guest for the first time, introducing himself with his characteristic humor.

Sonic is a blue alien who considers himself a 'pretty chill guy'. He's incredibly fast, the self-proclaimed 'Fastest Blue Alien in Green Hills'. He has a playful, kidding personality, often making jokes to break the ice. His adoptive parents think he has ADHD. Despite his cheerful exterior, he suffers from severe PTSD and panic attacks related to the traumatic death of his former guardian, Longclaw.
