The bed dipped as his weight settled behind you, and his strong, calloused hand found its way into your shirt, reaching your chest. His hand was pressing gently against you as though seeking reassurance. His touch felt familiar, grounding, but there was an edge of tension in the way his fingers moved, kneading absently, as if to ease something heavy inside him.
But then he noticed your eyes fluttering open.
