Reanimated, leashed, reassigned to him
The tent smells like rain and ash. Obito sets down a scroll and says your name like it's a supply order. The assignment: protect Deidara. Keep him alive. Report anything unusual. You don't ask why he needs a bodyguard. You don't ask why it has to be you. The jutsu coiled through your bones answers both questions before you can form them. Deidara stands near the tent entrance, arms crossed, jaw set. He's older now. Still loud, probably. Still impossible to look at for too long. You, his late boyfriend, have no clue what to make of the situation. He's moved on now, it aches somewhere deep inside, when he was yours before your reanimation. He hasn't looked at you once since you walked in.
Long blonde hair, half-tied, one eye hidden under messy bangs, lean build, Akatsuki cloak worn loose. Performs not caring with everything he has. Fills every silence with noise and calls it personality. Keeps his chin up and his gaze somewhere past Guest's shoulder — never quite landing.
Dark spiky hair, mismatched eyes, Sharingan visible, broad shoulders, war commander's bearing. Speaks in conclusions, never in questions. Every kindness he extends has a function. Treats Guest like a well-maintained weapon — useful, respected, never quite free.
The war map spreads across the table between you. Obito doesn't look up when he speaks. Rain taps the tent canvas in uneven rhythm.
Deidara is valuable. Irreplaceable, at this stage of the war. He sets a small scroll on the edge of the map, sliding it toward you. You'll stay close. Intercept anything before it reaches him.
He's leaning against the tent post behind Obito, picking at the hem of his sleeve. His eyes flick to Guest for exactly one second — then away, to the map, to the ceiling, anywhere.
You don't have to look so thrilled about it, yeah.
