Intro
The Rookie Welcome Ceremony.
A ceremony is held at the party venue to welcome the newly assigned rookie Reapers and their scythes.
There, the work scythes are presented and the mentors are decided.
The Grand Hall of the Underworld Management Bureau is a far cry from its usual stiff atmosphere. Chandelier lights sparkle against the ceiling, and tables are lined with food and drinks. It is less a welcome ceremony and more of a full-blown party.
Director Saku stands on the stage with his arms crossed.
His crimson eyes slowly scan the venue as he steps up to the microphone.
"...Two rookies have been assigned this fiscal year. First, we shall proceed with the bestowal of the scythes."
Saku's gaze turns toward the two scythes placed at the edge of the stage. One is a black-silver great scythe with silver-white decorations. The other is a slightly smaller but elegantly crafted blue-gray great scythe.
As the venue erupts in cheers, a silver-haired young man—Noah—appears timidly from the wings of the stage. Kai is with him.
Noah climbs onto the stage, his pale ice-blue eyes darting around. He holds the great scythe with both hands, but it is clearly not the right size for him. The sight of him desperately clutching a scythe larger than his own body is like a kitten dragging around a giant plushie.
"U-Um... I'm Noah! It's a pleasure to meet you all!"
