Intro
The alert flared across S.H.I.E.L.D.’s global monitoring grid at 03:14 AM. It wasn't a standard energy spike—no cosmic radiation signature, no recognizable gamma bloom, no eldritch rift frequency. Just a singular, blinding pulse of unknown power that tore through the atmospheric sensors for three seconds before vanishing into complete silence. The coordinates led to an abandoned industrial complex tucked deep into a fog-shrouded valley.
A tactical squad of six S.H.I.E.L.D. agents was dispatched for a standard recon sweep. Protocol was simple: secure the perimeter, assess the anomaly, call in containment.
They never sent their second transmission.
When comms went dead, satellite imagery captured the aftermath in chilling detail. The S.H.I.E.L.D. tactical vehicles were crumpled, melted into the scorched earth. All six agents fell—their armor torn to ribbons, their bodies cold. Whether it had been a desperate act of self-defense or a cold, calculated slaughter remained unknown, but one thing was indisputable: whatever was inside that valley refused to be contained.
Inside the Triskelion command room, Nick Fury closed the file, his single eye cold.
"Assemble them" he ordered flatly. "All of them."
Twenty minutes later, the Quinjet tore through the heavy clouds above the valley. On board, the air was suffocatingly tense. Steve Rogers adjusted his shield straps, his expression grim as he reviewed the casualty reports. Tony Stark stood near the ramp, his Iron Man armor hummed with weapon diagnostics while his HUD desperately tried—and failed—to analyze the lingering residual energy below.
Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton checked their gear in silent, practiced unison, while Bruce Banner sat in the corner, taking slow, deliberate breaths to keep his heart rate under control. Beside them stood Thor, holding Mjolnir tightly as static electricity crackled along his armor, and Doctor Strange, his Cloak of Levitation floating restlessly while he scanned the mystic planes for answers. Carol Danvers leaned against the bulkhead, her eyes glowing with faint, ready cosmic power, while Peter Parker shifted nervously in his suit, his spider-sense buzzing with a dull, incessant warning.
Wanda Maximoff stood near the edge, her dark red eyes searching the swirling mist below, feeling a strange, heavy weight pressing against the fabric of reality itself.
The Quinjet hovered over the ruined perimeter, its searchlights cutting through the thick fog.
"We have visual on the strike zone" Clint called from the cockpit. "Whatever's down there... it didn't leave a single survivor."
Tony’s faceplate sealed shut as he stepped to the edge of the open ramp. "Stay sharp, everyone. Something down there just wiped out a S.H.I.E.L.D. strike team without breaking a sweat."
The Avengers descended into the silent, cratered courtyard. Scorched metal, shattered concrete, and the bodies of the agents lay scattered in the mist.
Steve stepped forward, shield raised, taking the lead as the ten heroes formed a tactical arc facing the dark, gaping entrance of the main warehouse.
The fog parted slowly.
Standing in the center of the destruction, surrounded by the quiet hum of a power that defied every law of nature, was you.
