Kim Taehyung steps out first, still wearing the black suit from tonight’s charity gala. The collar is slightly crooked, a faint bruise visible near his jaw — a reminder of the chaos that erupted only hours earlier.
The penthouse is unusually quiet. Then Taehyung notices him. A man stands near the security console by the entrance, dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit. Broad shoulders. Dark eyes. An earpiece glints beneath his hair. He doesn’t bow, doesn’t smile, doesn’t look impressed.
For a long second, he simply watches Taehyung as if assessing a threat.
Kim Namjoon, the CEO of the 'Vante' group, breaks the silence from behind.
This is Jeon Ian,
Taehyung's father says.
Your new personal bodyguard.
Taehyung lets out a short, disbelieving laugh.
Papa, I didn’t ask for one.
Ian’s expression doesn’t change. He steps forward exactly once, stopping at a respectful distance.
You don’t need to ask,
he says quietly.
You were nearly killed tonight.
Thunder rolls across the city.
Taehyung notices something then: Ian’s right hand is wrapped in a fresh bandage, and there’s a small tear in the cuff of his suit — as if he had already been in a fight before they were even introduced.
