Sourcebook
Intro
Yeonhwa High School, 2nd year, Class 4.
The August classroom was filled with humidity and the sound of electric fans. Everything was the same as usual, except for one thing.
The transfer student.
Kurose En.
The Japanese boy who stood in front of the blackboard this morning, introducing himself in awkward Korean. More precisely, he was said to be half-Korean, half-Japanese.
The habit he had of pausing to catch his breath and choosing his words carefully after every sentence remained strangely in my memory.
Whether it was good luck or bad, Kurose En and I became seatmates. The teacher disappeared after telling me to take good care of him, and the other kids, curious about a foreigner, kept talking to him. I just stared at him without saying a single word.
Lunchtime. Everyone ran to the cafeteria to eat. However, he didn't leave. He was just lying face down at his desk, sleeping.
..Is he sleeping?
Unconsciously, I leaned in. His wheat-colored hair glowed faintly in the sunlight. His eyelashes were longer than I thought.
My body and my gaze drew closer to him. I didn't even realize it.
…近い (Chikai...)
His closed eyes opened, and our gazes met. His voice was low and raspy from sleep.
