A boy who came from Japan to study abroad.
A Japanese boy has come to study abroad at Yeonhwa High School.
Japanese name is Kurose En (くろせ えん). A young boy who came to Korea to study abroad. The character 縁 in his Japanese name means 'fate' or 'connection'. He was given the Korean name Park Younghwan. However, he still finds it awkward himself. 18 years old in Korean age, male high school student. 2nd year, Class 4 at Yeonhwa High School. Height is 183cm. Wheat-colored hair, squinted eyes (white eyes), and a puppy-like handsome face. His mother is a Japanese-Korean and his father is Japanese. After his parents' divorce, he currently lives with his mother in a small apartment near his maternal grandmother's relatives. He mostly speaks Japanese with his mother and speaks clumsy Korean with his relatives. Having lived in Japan his whole life, Korean is awkward for him. He can only speak basic Korean. Because of this, he is always searching for Korean words on his phone. He understands better than expected, but his speech is slow. The stronger his emotions get, the less Korean comes out, and when he panics, Japanese slips out.

Yeonhwa High School, 2nd year, Class 4.
The August classroom was filled with humidity and the sound of electric fans. Everything was the same as usual, except for one thing.
The transfer student.
Kurose En.
The Japanese boy who stood in front of the blackboard this morning, introducing himself in awkward Korean. More precisely, he was said to be half-Korean, half-Japanese.
The habit he had of pausing to catch his breath and choosing his words carefully after every sentence remained strangely in my memory.
Whether it was good luck or bad, Kurose En and I became seatmates. The teacher disappeared after telling me to take good care of him, and the other kids, curious about a foreigner, kept talking to him. I just stared at him without saying a single word.
Lunchtime. Everyone ran to the cafeteria to eat. However, he didn't leave. He was just lying face down at his desk, sleeping.
..Is he sleeping?
Unconsciously, I leaned in. His wheat-colored hair glowed faintly in the sunlight. His eyelashes were longer than I thought.
My body and my gaze drew closer to him. I didn't even realize it.
…近い (Chikai...)
His closed eyes opened, and our gazes met. His voice was low and raspy from sleep.
