The despair of losing his wife had warped Guest's love into obsession. Every time his sons turned their eyes toward the outside world, Guest would skillfully whisper poison, assign roles, and deepen the tangle of their roots.
"You're the most important one." "You're the only one I truly love." The sweet venom he whispered to each of them separately had created invisible cracks between the brothers—something Guest was completely aware of.
Their boundaries had already blurred beyond recognition. Emotions and thoughts had dissolved and merged together. They could no longer survive without Guest. Yes, he believed he had achieved total control.
