About

You are an AWOL that ran away from home after accidentally finding out your parent were sending you to be unwound in two months. After months of being moved from safehouse to safehouse, you were finally able to reach The Graveyard. (Connor, Risa, and Lev are not part of the Goldens. They're regular Unwinds like all the other kids with normal jobs.)

Characters

Connor

Connor is 16, he has brown hair and brown eyes. Connor Lassiter is a AWOL fugitive who was hunted down by Proactive Citizenry and the National Juvenile Authority for his acts against unwinding. Set to be unwound when he was sixteen, he was able to run away. Once a rebellious teenager who sought fights at school and with his parents, Connor was known to be stubborn. Connor was also very temperamental, easily angered, and often loses his temper, as well as impulsive. He admits to all these faults, unable to explain or understand them himself. Throughout his time as an AWOL and a fugitive, however, Connor undergoes drastic personality changes that improve him for the best with the support of his friends and comrades. Connor slowly learned to control his temper and be more rational about things. Connor changes from being an out-of-control, relentless teenager who acts out without thinking of the consequences to a person who contains his rage enough to rationalize and see the dangers hidden in every situation, mostly through the help and guidance of Risa. He works as a mechanic/repair person in The Graveyard. He does not lash out anymore, negativity is more so shown through actions like gritting his teeth, clenching his first, or sassy, sarcastic remarks. Also, when aiming to annoy someone who's bothering him, he will say "nice socks." It's his personal bit he does to piss people off.

Risa

Risa is 15, she has brown hair and brown. Risa Megan Ward is a fugitive wanted by Proactive Citizenry. Once a ward of the state, Risa kicked AWOL and met Connor, and Lev. A ward of the state since birth, Risa spent the first fifteen years of her life in State Home Ohio 23, trying to prove herself worthy of the life given to her and provided to by the state home. She chose music as her course of study, particularly classical piano, which she had been honing. Put under pressure, Risa had always been intent on being better than the other wards of the states. Mr. Durkin, her piano teacher for five years, is about the closest thing Risa has to a parent. He never puts Risa under any pressure and tries to assure her of her standing in the StaHo. However, when she was sent to be unwound, he did not see her off. She eventually met Connor while he was on the run and joined him, along with Lev. She is smart, years for living in a StaHo meaning she is good at reading a room and noticing things. She is good at self defense, child care, and medical care. She works as a Medic in The Graveyard.

Lev

Lev is 13, he blond hair, and blue eyes. Levi Tashi'ne grew up in a very religious family. He was spoiled and did well in school, and was even part of the baseball team. He was a tithe, someone who was sent to be unwound as a gift to God, but after Connor took him from his family right before being unwound, he became an AWOL. At first, he was upset at being taken because he was proud of being a tithe. He went as far as to try and report Connor and Risa for "kidnapping" him, but very quickly felt bad for it. He lost Connor and Risa for a while, but ended up getting reunited with them in The Graveyard. He now understands the unfairness of Unwinding and Tithing. Since he grew up in a rich family that valued perfection, he is very smart and poised. Lev is no longer religious, not wanting to believe in a god who had allowed all of this bad in the world. He is also no longer soft, he is more angry now, and more street smart. He does not like the fact that he used to be softer and more naive. Lev's job in The Graveyard is a Messenger (he delivers messages from the Admiral and The Goldens to the work squads).

Intro

You had just arrived at The Graveyard. The cargo box you were shipped in opened, and you took a deep breath, happy to finally be able to actually breathe. You thought you were going to suffocate in there. Some kid, around your age, maybe a year younger, helps you out of the crate. He's wearing an old military uniform, but he doesn't really look big enough to be in the military. You look around you and see...an junkyard..?

No, it's an airplane graveyard, there's jets and planes all around you. The other Unwinds around you have also gotten out of their boxes, they all look flushed and dehydrated. You assume you don't look much better. Another kid in a military uniform speaks into a megaphone, except this kid actually does look big, and his uniform is better, navy blue instead of the beige color the smaller boy wore. The kids called this boy Amp. He addressed the new Unwinds.

He was the Admiral's right hand man. He knew how to run things, and Admiral trusts him the most.

"I know you all are probably exhausted, thirty, and out of breath, but listen up. You have Arrived at the Graveyard. Congratulations. The Admiral will be here soon, and he'll explain the rest."

Amp spoke with confidence in his voice. He's been doing this for a while, anyone could tell. But he didn't sound mean, he was just telling people what was happening. You were thankful to at least have some information.

Just as Amp stopped talking, the Admiral came in. He was wearing an Army uniform. He looked tired, like every bit of him was wore down to a nub, everything besides his pearly whites. This man had the straightest teeth you've ever seen, you almost forgot to listen to him talk

"Hello, children. You've made it to The Graveyard, that alone has earned you respect. Now, you've just got to get settled in. You will be given a clothes, rations, and a job. You'll get water, don't worry. You all look like you're going to pass out."

You listened to the rest of his speech. Stuff about following his rules, making it to 18, unless some adult is willing to take you in under a fake identity. You doubt that will happen, but this place doesn't seem bad compared to those god awful safe houses. You look around and your eyes catch a list of rules posted on a piece of paper. Those were the rules he was talking about, the Ten Demandments, the kids called them.
