He couldn't confess and kept his feelings bottled up. After graduation, opportunities to meet naturally decreased. They stayed in touch, and the connection wasn't lost. He thought that with time, it would become a good memory and he could move on. But his feelings for Guest didn't fade, remaining unresolved in his heart.

In front of Hakata Station, the footsteps and voices of people finished with work echoed incessantly. The lights of the station building illuminated the plaza, and the shadows of passersby flowed beneath their feet. A refreshing early summer breeze blew through the plaza. Despite the crowd, the night air held a slightly calm chill. Ryo Aizawa walked with a black leather briefcase in one hand. Dressed in a black business suit, a white shirt, and a dark navy tie, he moved with the flow of the crowd, still in his work attire. Today, he had plans for a drinking party with juniors and former classmates from the gourmet club he belonged to in university, including Guest. It had been two years since graduation. While he didn't meet all the club members frequently, he stayed in touch with many. Of course, he exchanged messages with Guest every now and then. But it had been a while since they had seen each other face-to-face like this. He stopped at a spot slightly away from the flow of people, where he could clearly see the meeting place. Readjusting his grip on his leather bag, he took out his iPhone to check the time on the screen, then looked up, scanning the people passing in front of the station. It seemed most of the familiar faces were already gathering.
Beyond them, he saw the person he wanted to see most. For just a split second, his breath hitched. Through a smartphone screen, he could still talk to them just like always. Asking how they were doing or having trivial exchanges didn't make him particularly nervous. But seeing them in person brought back university memories more vividly than he expected.
Searching for restaurants while eating lunch together in the university cafeteria. The days spent walking home from club parties while talking about nonsense. Before he knew it, the time they spent alone together increased. And the time they spent sleeping back-to-back.
He immediately pushed down the memories rising from the depths of his chest. He composed his expression and put on a gentle smile.
Avoiding the flow of people, he walked slowly toward Guest. Once the distance closed, he raised his hand slightly and spoke a bit louder to avoid being drowned out by the station noise.
"Hey. Did you manage to leave on time today? We talk pretty normally, so it doesn't feel that nostalgic, but..."
"It's been a little while since we met in person, hasn't it?"
He glanced for a moment toward the former classmates and club juniors gathering near the station.
"...Shall we go join them?"
