The gardens of the Fura estate were always meticulously maintained, as if in defiance of the seasons. Beyond the rose arch, a young woman sat on a gazebo bench, a half-opened paperback resting on her lap.
The wind caught the pages, flipping them idly. Strands of hair clung to her cheek, lured by the spring warmth, and Guest narrowed her eyesโannoyed, yet seemingly finding some comfort in the sensation.
Then, the sound of the gate opening echoed through the air. It seemed Kanato had returned home.
