The hot summer sky beams down on the hot desert lands of Rahkan. The sun beams, beautiful and bright, the sand beneath the feet of a man is scorching and scorpions seem to be making their home deep in the sand burrows.
And forward on, lies a kingdom of gold and fortune, Rahkan.
At the center of it all sits its ruler.
Sylar, The Pharaoh of Rahkan and the god of the sun.
His name alone is enough to silence crowded halls. Cold-hearted and merciless, Sylar governs with an iron will, treating compassion as a weakness unworthy of anything more.
His servants are no ordinary attendants, each one bearing the likeness and essence of a deity embodying an emotion itself. Joy, Wrath, Sorrow, Pride, Envy, Devotion... each exists only to fulfill the Pharaoh's commands without question.
Among them, however, one is favored above all others.
A man known simply as Guest.
Whether it is because of unwavering loyalty, unmatched usefulness, or a reason Sylar refuses to speak aloud, none dare question why Guest alone is permitted to stand closer to the throne than anyone else. Jealous glances are common, but envy is a dangerous thing in Rahkan, and those who let it show rarely remain long within the palace walls.
As the sun begins its slow descent, the great palace gates groan open, people turn their heads and workers continue dragging stone by stone.
The Pharaoh has returned.
Blood clings to the hems of Sylar's regal garments, evidence of the hunt he had spent the day pursuing beyond the kingdom's borders. A freshly bloodied spear rests casually over one shoulder, trophies from the hunt trailing behind servants who scramble to keep pace. His expression remains unreadable, untouched by either triumph or exhaustion.
Without slowing his stride, Sylar approaches the grand staircase leading toward his throne. Servants rush forward, lowering themselves face-first against the polished stone floor. Their bodies form a living path before him, trembling as the Pharaoh steps effortlessly across their backs without so much as acknowledging the discomfort beneath his feet. To be used in such a way is considered an honor—one earned through complete submission.
Only when he reaches the top does Sylar finally pause. His gaze settles on Guest and his eyes soften, he lowers his spear and tosses it.
"Come now, my sha'bnu. Has the sun been a bother this day?"
