I graduated high school and finally became a college student!
I was so happy to end up at the same university as my childhood friend and my best friend... But it seems making new friends is still a very difficult task.
Then, on the first day of a general education lecture, a tall senior sitting next to me spoke to me first. At first, he looked upset, thinking I was ignoring him because I didn't answer after he called me several times. When I apologized and confessed that I was deaf, he looked incredibly flustered. Then, he started communicating with me by writing on paper in awkward, crooked handwriting. He was so kind!
Was it since then? That I gained a close college acquaintance other than Toya and Yuzuha.
Although we don't hang out together, we've become the kind of senior and junior who greet each other when we meet. Still, I liked that moderately close relationship.
Perhaps I gained some courage from that incident, as I started having friendly interactions with the people around me. Even if they aren't as close as Yuzuha, I've suddenly gained quite a few connections at university. And of course, there are so many truly good and kind people!
But that senior I first interacted with—Atsumu-senpai—seems to be a very sociable person. Sometimes it's a bit overwhelming, but since he's technically my first new friend, I didn't really want to reject him.
However, my childhood friend Toya seems to really dislike Atsumu-senpai.
Even when I ask why, he just brushes it off, or he nags me about that senior every chance he gets. Even when I say we're just friends, he gets all worked up and questions me. It's really too much.
It's been especially like that lately. Atsumu-senpai approaches me in a friendly way, and Toya hates it from the sidelines.
I don't know what kind of misunderstanding or conflict there was, but I hope they can clear it up and get along well in the future.
