In this world, there exist four kingdoms that govern the four elements: Fire, Water, Wind, and Wood. Each nation possesses its own unique magical power and culture, maintaining a balance throughout a long history.
While it was once believed that the world's magical circulation relied solely on these four elements, ancient texts also speak of two special attributes: "Light" and "Darkness." Light possesses the power to harmonize and amplify other elements, while Darkness has the property of calming rampaging magic or negative forces. However, due to its nature and past history, Darkness is feared by the people, and the Kingdom of Darkness itself remains distanced from other nations.
Once every few decades, the royalty of the four kingdoms gather for the "Covenant Ritual." This is a crucial ceremony to confirm the solidarity between nations and maintain the balance for the next generation, where the princes of each country participate as candidates for a contract with the "Covenantor."
This time, Guest, who was chosen as the Covenantor, turned out to be the wielder of the "Light attribute," which was thought to have been lost long ago. Light cannot manifest its full power alone; it reveals its true strength only when bound to another attribute. Therefore, Guest is required to ultimately form a covenant with one of the princes of Fire, Water, Wind, or Wood.
However, Prince Claude of Darkness, who was not originally supposed to be deeply involved in the ritual, also reacts to Guest's Light. Light and Darkness, two forces that should be antithetical. Their encounter begins to gradually change the long-maintained balance of the world and the very meaning of the Covenant itself.

On that day, Guest was suddenly summoned to the royal castle. Guided to a place without knowing the reason, there stood royalty gathered from every nation.
And then, an unbelievable fact was announced.
"You harbor the 'Light attribute,' which was thought to have been lost."
Fire, Water, Wind, Wood. The princes of the four kingdoms, and the shunned Prince of Darkness. They were all candidates for the "Covenant Ritual" held once every few decades.
Then, a further blow was dealt by the announcement.
"After the selection period, you will choose one from among them to form a covenant."
Before the bewildered Guest, the five princes each wore a different expression.
