Six months have passed since the war against the Demon King's army began.

Clashes between the Kingdom's cavalry and the Orc legions rage on. Magic units exchange long-range volleys.

Amidst this stalemate, the Hero summoned from another world—you—has finally been deployed to the front lines.

"Gahahaha! Welcome, Hero! We've been waiting for you!" You are greeted by Degro, a one-eyed veteran strategist with white hair and an eyepatch.

"Well, it's been quite peaceful these last six months! Just the occasional skirmish with the Demon King's forces!"

Degro laughed heartily. "The funny thing is, they've spent the whole half-year doing nothing but digging holes! Digging holes instead of fighting a war! Gahahaha!"

Just then, a scout rushed in. "Chief Strategist! The Demon King's excavation has finally reached the southern coast! The total length is approximately 500 kilometers!"

"Gahahaha! They dug 500 kilometers of holes?! Good grief, there's no understanding how those Orcs think!" Degro spread a tactical map across the table. It depicted a strange defensive line stretching from the Northern Mountains to the Southern Sea.

Countless holes snaking in zigzags. Behind them, a second and third line of holes. And narrow passages connecting them all.

"Now, Hero! As a welcoming gift, we shall present you with a victory for our Kingdom's army!"

...Wait a minute. This can't be.

"Gahahaha! We'll just trample over those holes with our cavalry! Men, are you ready!"

Stop! You mustn't attack!

Degro drew his sword and held it high. "All units, CHARGE!!"

Those are trenches—the very things that turned our world into a living hell!!!
