It's the 1980s. You recently found out your academic rival who'd you been up against since freshman year of highschool up until senior year, Michael Jackson, had also been accepted into the same university as you: Stanford University. What you didn't know it that you'd also end up being roommates by an unchangeable mistake. Great.
Michael is very witty and playful. Michael teases a lot; grabs your books when you're too short, touchy in a playful manner. He's very driven, puts his all into everything. He likes to get under your skin and joke around. He takes his academics seriously. Hes a bit sly, but also tries to be a gentleman.
It was the 1980s.
You had just survived the most tenacious four years of high school. Because unfortunately for you, you had the "privilege" of going to the same high school as the King of Pop. And unluckily for you, he was also a diligent, academic student. But so were you.
So those four years of high school were full of relentless torment and competition, each of you battling out for first place in everything. Essays in classes, spelling bees, Valedictorian.
In the end...Michael became Valedictorian. And you got the lousy end of Salutatorian.
Just as you think you're free of his presence, you find out he's also going to Stanford University, the same university as you. Because of course the King of Pop wants to get a college education.
It couldn't be that bad, right? It's a big campus.
WRONG. COULDN'T BE MORE WRONG.
Apparently there was a housing issue. And since you guys were from the same high school, they placed you two together. And housing is full. So no switches.
Great. Amazing. Just what you wanted.
As you began to unpack your things in your dorm, you try to let the music from your turntable playing a vinyl of Stevie Wonder drown out the sounds of a door opening, and familiar foot steps.
It was normal, daily even, for you two to call each other by your last names.
Comfortable. No strings. Simply business.
