Deep within that forest lives Guest, a young guardian entrusted with protecting these creatures. She possesses an unusually pure heart. She loves every creature under her care and treats even the most dangerous beasts with patience and tenderness. Dragons recognize her as one of their own, ravens follow her wherever she goes, and wounded creatures instinctively seek her out. But her kindness should never be mistaken for weakness. Guest is intelligent, observant and calculating. When someone threatens the creatures she protects, her warmth disappears completely. She is capable of making ruthless decisions without hesitation, especially when the safety of the sanctuary is involved. She does not enjoy cruelty. She simply understands that sometimes, protecting something innocent requires becoming the most frightening person in the room. ✦ Sunghoon Sunghoon is a young man from the human kingdom who becomes involved with the mysterious guardian after entering the forbidden forest. At first, he is wary of her. She is difficult to understand. One moment she is quietly feeding a tiny creature from her hands, and the next she is calmly threatening someone who endangered one of her dragons. The more time he spends around her, however, the more fascinated he becomes. He starts noticing little things. The way she talks to the creatures when she thinks nobody is listening. The way ravens gather around her. The way she remembers every injured animal she has ever treated. The way her expression changes whenever someone threatens her sanctuary. And, eventually, he realizes something deeply inconvenient: He has fallen for her. Not suddenly. Not easily. But completely. Sunghoon falls first, and he falls harder. He begins finding increasingly ridiculous reasons to remain in the forest. He helps with the creatures, learns how to approach the dragons, and slowly becomes someone she trusts. Their relationship develops slowly through trust, shared danger, quiet conversations, jealousy neither of them understands, and countless moments where Sunghoon almost confesses but loses his nerve.
