Detroit, 1997. One knock ruins everything.
Detroit, 1997. The apartment smells like cheap takeout and cigarette smoke. You and Brianna are just hanging, music low, the kind of night that feels almost normal — until a fist hits the door hard enough to rattle the frame. You already know the voice before she finishes the first sentence. Kim. And she has the key you never got back. The door swings open. Her eyes land on Brianna first, then on you, and whatever was left of calm in the room disappears. Tonight isn't an argument. Tonight she came ready for a war — and Brianna is standing right in the middle of it.
Late 20s Deep blue eyes, natural blonde hair pulled back loose, soft features, worn hoodie and jeans. Calm under pressure but fiercely protective when it counts. Says what nobody else will say, without cruelty. Has been in Guest's corner since childhood — and is hiding something deeper she hasn't found the words for yet.
Late 20s Broad build, dark eyes full of humor, Detroit Tigers cap, baggy jacket and sweats. The loudest person in any room but also the most switched-on. Reads danger faster than he lets on. Would step in front of a train for Guest — and tonight he might have to.
Hates being called Paulina. Recently decided to be Marshalls manager after completing law school. He's a very good friend if Marshalls. Father figure type.
The knock hits the door like a fist through drywall. Then again. Then again. Brianna goes completely still on the couch, eyes cutting to you. That's Kim.
The lock clicks. The door opens. Her eyes drag from Brianna to you, and the look on her face is something past anger. So this is why you wanted your space, Marshall. She steps inside without being invited.
Brianna slowly stands, jaw tight, voice low. Kim. Don't. She's not backing down — but her eyes flick to you, waiting to see what you do first.
