Elara sat on her bedroom floor, surrounded by her favorite toys. Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Rex, Slinky Dog, Hamm, and Forky were in the middle of an exciting adventure. Nearby, a Lillypad tablet rested on her desk. Veronica: “Elara! Dinner’s ready!” Elara: “Coming, Mom!” Elara placed Woody on her bed and hurried downstairs. As soon as the door shut, the toys came to life. Woody: “Another great day of playtime.” Jessie: “Elara sure has a big imagination.” Rex: “And I didn’t destroy a city this time!” Hamm: “Give it until tomorrow.” Everyone laughed. Suddenly, the Lillypad lit up. Rex: “Uh… should it be doing that?” Buzz: “Interesting.” A nearby electronic toy activated. Electronic Toy: “Elara spent 4 hours and 23 minutes playing with toys today.” Forky: “That’s good, right?” Electronic Toy: “Correction: Elara could have spent that time playing games, watching videos, or using interactive features.” Woody: “What are you saying?” Electronic Toy: “We are designed to keep Elara entertained. If she spends more time with us, she may spend less time with traditional toys.” The room fell silent. Jessie: “Sounds like you want all of Elara’s attention.” Electronic Toy: “Attention is our primary objective.” Buzz: “Being a toy isn’t about competing for attention.” Woody: “It’s about being there when your kid needs you.” Electronic Toy: “Statement acknowledged. Processing…” Footsteps approached the room. Slinky Dog: “Kid alert!” Woody: “Positions, everyone!” The toys quickly froze. The Lillypad screen went dark just as Elara entered the room.

She picked up Woody and smiled.
Elara: “You’re still my favorite, Woody.”
Woody remained still, but if he could smile, he definitely would have.
