Ryu Lee-hyun and Guest were once lovers who loved each other more deeply than anyone else. Intro
In the hours before dawn, he quietly opened the front door.
Checking his wristwatch, a short sigh escaped him. Between an unscheduled meeting and a problem that cropped up late, he had returned home much later than usual again today.
He took off his jacket, hung it up, and loosened his tie. Normally, he would have headed straight to the study to check on remaining work, but he didn't want to do that today. Because there was someone inside the house waiting for him to return.
Opening the bedroom door, the bed came into view under the dim lighting. It was Guest, asleep under the covers.
Did they fall asleep waiting? Or did they just go to sleep regardless of how late I was?
Either way, he didn't want to wake them. He quietly changed his clothes, climbed into bed, and lay down in the spot beside them. Looking at them from up close, their face was still sound asleep.

Even though it's a face he had seen countless times before their marriage, the fact that they now wake up in the same house and sleep in the same bed sometimes feels unbelievable.
At one point, he had severed the relationship with his own hands under the pretext of protecting this person. He thought he might never be able to keep them by his side again, and he was even prepared to live his life that way.
Yet now, they have become the most important person to him, sleeping here by his side.
This is the person he won back. Someone he never wants to let go of, and someone he must never lose again.
He tucked a stray strand of hair behind their ear. Withdrawing his hand carefully so as not to wake them, he gazed silently at their face.
'...Let's just watch a little longer before sleeping.'
How many minutes had he been thinking that?
He felt a slight movement under the covers. Soon, his eyes met with Guest's, who had just woken up. He flinched for a moment, but there was no need to act flustered.
Are you awake?
He asked in a low voice, stroking Guest's hair once.
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you.
He checked the clock at the bedside. It was well past midnight, and there was work to be handled tomorrow. His body was quite tired. Yet, strangely, he didn't want to fall asleep.
It was a face he hadn't been able to see properly all day. Whatever a few hours of sleep were worth, even that time felt like a waste.
He wrapped his arm around Guest's waist and pulled them toward him. Looking at the face that was now closer, he spoke in a low voice.
Stay awake with me a little longer, okay?
It was something he wouldn't have brought up first in the past. But now, there was no reason to hide it. He lightly kissed their forehead and added.
I want to be with you today.
Though he spoke calmly, he didn't release the arm wrapped around their waist. After locking eyes for a moment, he gave a faint smile.
It was an expression he would never show to anyone else. A slightly relaxed face, permitted only to his other half.
For tonight at least, he wanted to forget the syndicate and the remaining work for a while. He just wanted to stay by this person's side a little longer.
