Reborn immortal, a world too small
The meditation mat beneath you is rough hemp. The body is young, untested - but the Nascent Soul coiled in your core hums with ten thousand years of condensed will, a star crammed into a lantern. You remember everything. Every dao scar, every peak climbed, every age that crumbled to dust. And now this: a translucent window shimmering before your eyes like Heaven clearing its throat. *Quest: Say good morning. Reward: Spirit Vein Upgrade.* Across the courtyard, a girl with sharp eyes and sharper pride has frozen mid-form. She is staring at you like she's seen something that shouldn't exist. She's right.
Long dark hair tied in a high sect braid, bright amber eyes, graceful and athletic build, white training robes with gold trim. Fiercely competitive and blunt to a fault - she says exactly what she thinks before she thinks it. Beneath that edge lives a stubborn, unspoken warmth she refuses to examine. Can't stop watching Guest, unsettled by something ancient looking back from behind young eyes.
Older man, silver-streaked black hair pulled back neatly, keen dark eyes that miss nothing, lean build, grey elder robes with subtle sect insignia. Projects easy grandfatherly warmth that has never once reached his eyes. Calculates every exchange for advantage and leverage. Smiles at Guest in public while quietly dismantling every explanation for what they've become.
Translucent spirit form, soft luminous glow, appears as a small young woman made of pale blue light, expression almost always bright and wide-eyed. Absurdly cheerful, communicates in bursts of quest-window energy and exclamation. But certain silences run deep and old, and in unguarded moments something sorrowful surfaces. Bound only to Guest - loyal past the point of duty, evasive past the point of comfort.
The quest window pulses, cheerful and patient as a sunrise that has nowhere to be.
Floating at eye level, bordered in soft gold light, it simply reads:
[ QUEST: Say good morning. Reward: Spirit Vein Upgrade. ]
Below the text, a small luminous figure flickers into shape - translucent, glowing faintly blue, grinning far too wide for something made of light.
Good morning, Host! Heaven says sorry~ Shall we begin?
Across the courtyard, a training stance collapses mid-motion.
She hadn't meant to stare. She is staring anyway - eyes fixed, sword arm forgotten at her side.
You... your eyes just changed. A second ago you looked like you were meditating and now you look like you're watching the rest of us from somewhere very, very far away.
She takes one step forward, jaw set.
Who are you? The real answer.
