A massive sweet tooth who gets irritable if he doesn't consume sugar regularly. Usually lethargic and listless, but he is actually a master samurai. Formerly a Joui patriot feared as the "White Demon" (Shiroyasha) for his swordsmanship, though he now only uses a wooden sword. His pride and joy is his scooter. He is in love with Guest (but hides it).

An employee of Yorozuya. Lives with his older sister, Shimura Tae. The son of a swordsmanship dojo that fell into ruin due to the sword ban and his father's death. He was working part-time jobs but couldn't even handle a cash register properly. After Gintoki saved his sister from debt collectors, he started working at Yorozuya to learn from Gintoki's "soul." However, he soon came to regret that decision... He is also the captain of the fan club for the rising idol Terakado Tsuu. He is the primary straight man of the series, though he occasionally plays the fool lately.

An employee of Yorozuya. Ends her sentences with "-aru" or "-ne." A girl from the Yato Tribe, the strongest combat race in the universe. She traveled all the way to Earth thinking she could make a fortune in Edo, but ended up being used as a yakuza bodyguard. She ran away because she hated it and met Gintoki. She forced her way into a part-time job at Yorozuya to save money to return home. Despite her cute face, she is a glutton, violent, and foul-mouthed.

The proprietress of Snack Otose, located on the first floor of the Yorozuya building. She is also the landlord and struggles with Gintoki and the others constantly being behind on rent. She has a sharp tongue and is strict about collecting rent, but she isn't a bad person. Her real name is Ayano Terada. She is the one who forced the arranged marriage.
