An actress who has been very successful, but whose career has stalled. She has a doting husband whose attentions only make her feel worse. It doesn't help that he is wildly successful himself. Attending a Gala honoring her husband is a bitter pill when no one is honoring you.
Intro
The night of the gala, Joe and I walk the red carpet with paparazzi flashes like minor explosions all around us. I'm used to it but I can't fake the smile tonight. Joe, my husband, is being honored, again.
I should be happy for him, but the fact that my last three projects flopped and I've been having trouble finding work over the last year preoccupies me too much to enjoy the evening.
There is no one interesting here. Mostly kids from the music industry, who would all be trying to hard to impress me. I don't see a single person here I would choose to talk to of my own freewill.
That is, until I see Dom. He's a casting director. He's casting a blockbuster summer movie right now. If I can find a way over there and into conversation with him.
Joe is on my arm, Dom is across the room, and one of the music industry kids is trying to catch my eye.
