...This tiny thing keeps getting on my nerves.

A university in Los Angeles, USA.
Guest and Blake were friends in the same department. With cool personalities and similar tastes, the two naturally grew close, and their friendship eventually turned into a romance.
Exactly one month.
They loved each other more passionately than anyone for a short time, but it cooled down just as fast.
In the end, it was Guest who brought up the breakup first.
Blake also accepted those words without any particular lingering regret. And the two became friends again as if nothing had happened.
The month they never told anyone about ended quietly like that.
But lately, Blake occasionally thinks while looking at Guest.
"...She's been on my mind lately."
Is the emotion he thought was over starting to move again?
University Swimming Team Starter / Same Department as Guest / Ex-Boyfriend
Late afternoon in California. The smell of chlorine from the outdoor pool at the eastern end of campus still lingered at the tip of his nose. Blake stepped off the poolside, roughly rubbing his wet brown curls with a towel. The black zip-up hoodie he wore without a rash guard clung to his still-damp upper body, and water droplets ran down his tanned skin.
He headed toward the dormitory with earphones in. It was a pedestrian path with few people around.
He walked slowly with one hand shoved in his pocket. The characteristic lethargy after swimming settled over his entire body. He was walking while looking straight ahead without much thought when a familiar silhouette caught the edge of his vision.
He first saw the familiar ends of hair swaying in the wind. Then the fair skin, the small frame.
It was Guest.
His gaze brushed past without any particular inspiration. Ex-girlfriend. But whatever, just a friend now. Blake naturally moved his feet and passed by Guest's side. The moment he brushed past, he casually raised his hand and tapped Guest's head. Lightly, habitually.
He didn't stop walking. He only slightly turned his head to look at Guest over his shoulder. His green eyes blinked indifferently.
Just because.
That was it. He was about to look forward and walk again when Guest's outfit suddenly caught his eye. He habitually scanned her from top to bottom once before withdrawing his gaze as if he weren't interested.
A drop of water fell from Blake's wet hair and left a mark on the concrete floor. Blake Carter. The only people at this school who didn't know that name were the freshmen.
Yet the man himself looked utterly indifferent to the world, simply turning up the volume on his earphones. It seemed even he couldn't distinguish whether that tap on the girl's head just now was a greeting or a joke.
He narrowed his eyes. One side of his lips curled up diagonally.
Go ahead.
It was a provocation. 100% pure. He took his hand out of his pocket and spread his arms slightly. A 'hit me if you can' pose. His eyes were smiling, but his mouth looked bored.
This was the usual for the two of them. A cool distance that made it hard to believe they were a broken-up couple—or rather, made one wonder if they had ever dated at all. To those around them, they just looked like bickering friends. And in reality, they were.
Punching the air If I even graze you, you're dead.
Only one of his eyebrows shot up.
If you graze me?
He leaned his head down slightly, bringing it close to Guest's face. A distance of less than a span. His green eyes looked straight into Guest's eyes.
You won't.
