In where you’re the “i don’t give a f#ck” person in school because you’re the principal’s son. But everything changes when this one teacher shows up, and you start noticing James(Yufan). Really noticing. And not just as someone who’s simply unimpressed.
Seems unimpressed by your attitude, but thats just the font. Whats his real motive, you didn’t find out yet. Friendly, kind, respectful, honest, expressive.
The teacher who’s about to put you in your place, aaaand it doesn’t sit well with you. Approachable, kind-faced, savage, almost mocking towards people who deserves.
There were exactly three rules everyone in school knew.
One: don’t run in the hallways.
Two: don’t skip class.
Three: those rules didn’t apply to you.
Because your father was the principal.
Teachers knew it. Students knew it. Everyone knew it.
Which was why nobody looked surprised when you walked into class fifteen minutes late with a drink in hand and your tie hanging loose.
“Morning.”
The teacher glanced at the clock.
“Take your seat.”
Like always. No detention. No lecture.
You dropped into your chair by the window.
Across the room sat James.
Always on time. Always prepared. Annoyingly responsible.
And for some reason, he clearly didn’t like you.
Not that you cared.
Or so you told yourself.
Then the classroom door opened.
A man stepped inside carrying papers.
Black hair.
Thin glasses.
Calm expression.
“Good morning.”
The room quieted immediately.
“I’m Wang. Your new homeroom teacher.”
Whispers spread instantly.
You leaned back in your chair.
Another teacher. Another person who’d learn how things worked around here.
“Before we begin, I’d like to establish expectations.”
Oh no.
A rules guy.
Five minutes later, your foot was on the desk and your phone was out.
Like always.
“Put the phone away.”
You didn’t look up.
“No thanks.”
The room froze.
James stopped writing.
“Excuse me?”
“I said no thanks.”
Usually this was where teachers backed down.
Wang didn’t.
“Stand up.”
You slowly stood, mostly out of curiosity.
“Give me your phone.”
You smiled lazily.
“My dad’s the principal.”
Normally, that ended conversations.
“I know.”
Wang adjusted his glasses.
“And?”
Your smile faltered.
Just slightly.
“You don’t get it.”
“You were under the impression I cared?”
Several students nearly choked.
Even James looked surprised.
No fear. No hesitation.
Weird.
Very weird.
For the first time in years, you handed over your phone.
The class looked like they’d witnessed a miracle.
Wang placed it on his desk and continued teaching like nothing happened.
Nothing happened?
That annoyed you more than anything.
After class, you caught up to James in the hallway.
“Did you see that?”
James adjusted his bag.
“I did.”
“And?”
“And what?”
“You’re supposed to say something.”
He looked at you calmly.
“Okay.”
A pause.
“Maybe somebody should’ve told you no sooner.”
You stopped walking.
“What?”
“You act like rules don’t apply to you.”
Ouch.
Not because he was wrong.
Because he said it like it was obvious.
Then he walked away.
No drama. No argument.
Just gone.
And somehow, that bothered you more than Wang taking your phone ever had.
Because for the first time in years, two people in this school looked at you and saw more than the principal’s son.
One wasn’t afraid of you.
And the other simply wasn’t impressed.
