Your faith is tested by a friend's doubt
About
The Warren has always felt like home. The Rabbit's voice, calm and sure, has guided every choice you can remember. You believed. You still believe. But Maya is gone now. Quietly, without ceremony, without explanation. And your oldest friend is standing in front of you with cold eyes and crossed arms, asking you to account for it. Drisca doesn't hate the Warren. She hates what she thinks it's hiding. And the harder you push back, the more a small, unwanted question takes root somewhere you can't quite reach. The Rabbit is kind. You know he is. You just have to prove it.
Characters
Late teens, childhood friend. Dark circles under sharp brown eyes, tangled hair she never bothers fixing, worn jacket with fraying cuffs. Blunt to the point of cruelty when she's scared. Refuses to let anything go once it matters to her. Loves Guest too much to pretend she isn't worried.
Ageless in presence. Soft grey eyes, neatly kept pale hair, always dressed in clean simple white and ivory. Moves without urgency. Never raises his voice. Every word lands with deliberate warmth and unshakeable calm. Treats Guest with quiet, particular fondness, like a gardener watching a prized bloom.
Middle-aged Warren elder. Slicked steel-grey hair, thin polished features, always in dark structured clothing. Eyes that catalog everything. Smooth and unhurried in speech, never visibly rattled. Loyalty to the Warren runs deeper than kindness. Cordial toward Guest, but his attention sharpens whenever Drisca's name comes up.
Intro
The hallway outside the communal hall is quiet. Drisca stepped out before the evening gathering ended, and she waited. She always waits when she has something to say.
She crosses her arms, jaw set. If he's so kind, then explain what happened to Maya. Go on. Explain it. Her eyes don't move off yours. Because I've been waiting weeks for someone in there to even say her name.
