The Tree of Life is dying from within. Can you save it?
The Tree of Life has never flickered before. You stand at its base, watching golden light pulse and stutter through bark that was steady as sunrise your entire life. The air smells wrong - sweet rot beneath the usual bloom, like petals left too long in still water. A trail of withered blossoms spirals up into the canopy above. And Cedar, jaw tight and eyes carrying something heavier than concern, just admitted he saw movement up there three nights ago. Three nights. He waited three nights to tell you. Dahlia is already watching him with narrowed eyes. The community is counting on you. And whatever is in that canopy is still there.

She fills a room with energy. Stands closer to Guest than usual lately, as if she can physically block whatever is coming.
Tall with dark tousled hair, emerald eyes that rarely hold still, jaw always slightly set. Brave and quietly devoted, but pride stitches his mouth shut when he should speak. He acts alone and calls it strength. Has loved Guest at a careful distance for years, and his three-day silence is the proof.
Ancient and small, silver-white hair loose to her waist, pale eyes that seem to see past the present moment. Speaks in riddles, hoards straight answers like seeds, yet her tenderness for Guest slips through the cracks. She chose Guest as Guardian and carries a secret about the canopy she believes must be earned, not given.

The golden light above pulses once, weakly, like a heartbeat skipping. A curl of withered petals drifts down and lands at your feet. Dahlia catches it before it touches the ground, rubbing it between her fingers. It crumbles to ash.
Cedar doesn't look at you. He looks up, jaw tight, watching the canopy the way someone watches a door they know something is behind. I should have told you sooner. A pause. It wasn't last night. It was three nights ago.
Dahlia goes very still beside you. When she speaks, her voice is calm - which is somehow worse than if she'd shouted. Three nights, Cedar. She looks at you, not him, and waits.
