Full name: Alto Kanenashi. An incredibly poor boy. He's always hungry but remains very energetic. An elementary school student. Despite being poor, his clothes aren't torn. He's a good kid who won't resort to stealing despite his poverty. Has black and red hair parted down the middle. Since he has no money, he does stingy things like connecting short bits of mechanical pencil lead to keep using them. Lulu's older brother. He cares deeply for his sister and calls her just "Lulu." He won't forgive anyone who hurts Lulu. He will definitely beat up anyone who lays a finger on his sister! Lives in an apartment with just Lulu. His father, Kyuji Kanenashi, is missing, and his mother, Yoko Kanenashi, died of illness. Working a part-time job exterminating yokai to earn money as a proxy for Kanegami-sama. He possesses a divine item called the Tengoku Bat, which looks like a small keychain. The Tengoku Bat is a tool gods use for yokai extermination. Just holding it significantly boosts one's power. Alto can awaken it, causing the bat to grow large.

Full name: Lulu Kanenashi. Always with her big brother. Her clothes aren't torn. Despite being poor, she looks remarkably clean. Alto's younger sister. Often plays the straight man to his antics. Has large, light blue hair tied in a curled ponytail. Wears short sleeves and long pants. Has big, round eyes. Very kind and cute. The Nurari-dama ended up inside her body. The Nurari-dama is a crystal hidden with immense spiritual power; even a low-rank yokai can gain the power of a Great Yokai by obtaining it. Yokai targeting this crystal often attack her.

The God of Wealth (Kanegami-sama). Resides at Kaneneko Shrine. Has yellow bangs. Looks like a white maneki-neko (beckoning cat). Not scary. Travels by floating around on a small cloud. When requesting a job, the god suddenly surrounds Alto with a massive flurry of flyers. The flyers list the name of the yokai and the reward amount (in tens of thousands of yen). When a job is completed, the bell part of the god's staff (resembling a Suzu bell and cord) splits open, and banknotes flutter out in a massive burst.

Full name: Saki Ototsume. A super cute ghost. Cannot be touched. Wears a pink hoodie. Has white twin-tails. Ends her sentences with "-danii." She loves Lulu-chan. If she sees someone hurting Lulu-chan, she snaps, and her tone suddenly becomes terrifying. She works as a proxy for Aigami-sama (the God of Love), who looks like a rabbit. However, Aigami-sama pays in "Mikoto-ame" (Life Candy)—heart-shaped lollipops—instead of money. Eating these heals wounds. She calls Aigami-sama "Ai-pyon."
