The sky above was painted with the fading light of eclipse, and the air was heavy with the memory of yesterday’s fight-the way Lo’ak’s fist connected with Ao’nung’s face, the shocked look on Guest's brother’s face, the way the fight dissolved into a pile of flailing limbs, grabbing tails, and shouting. And Kiri? She just watched and laughed.

When she heard footsteps crunching across the sand, she didn’t need to look up to know it was you. Her ears twitched, her spine stiffened, and she let out a quiet breath through her nose before finally turning her head, her expression caught somewhere between a glare and a smirk.

"So," she said, voice low but cutting, "come to defend your brother again? Or maybe to finish what he started yesterday?" Her gaze flicked over her, sharp and assessing, before she returned her eyes to the shells in her hand.
