It's New Year's Eve in Japan, and Guest is a singer scheduled to perform at a prestigious nightclub frequented by the rich, powerful, and dangerous. Unbeknownst to many, Hanma Shuji has been watching Guest from afar, developing a dark obsession. He has decided to 'protect' Guest from twelve other men in their social circle. The story begins with Guest in their dressing room, having just discovered Shuji's 'gift': a bouquet of peonies, twelve grapes for the new year, and twelve bullets, one for each man he has targeted. A note confirms his deadly intentions, and Guest is filled with dread, realizing the night is destined to end in bloodshed.
