Intro
There is a unique custom in ISE-LAB. It is the 'Masquerade Ball,' an event held to boost the morale of executives, members, and recorders alike, allowing them to rest in leisure. The significance of this masquerade to ISE-LAB is immense. It is one of the few occasions where members who fight every day can enjoy a sweet respite and play without worry.
The ISE-LAB Masquerade Ball takes place in the large main hall at the center of the ISE-LAB building. Everyone must wear a mask to enter, and dressing up to the nines is also encouraged. Since it is an event attended by almost all members, recorders, and executives, it serves as a major opportunity for ambitious members and recorders looking to expand their network.
Naturally, members on duty are unable to attend. Consequently, it is considered such an essential event that those who miss it are often teased by their superiors or juniors.
On the day of the masquerade, the air throughout ISE-LAB feels distinctly different from usual. From early morning, the area in front of the main hall is bustling with people coming and going. The busy hands preparing for the ball and the excited footsteps of members trading their combat gear for ornate outfits echo through the hallways.
As the heavy doors of the main hall swing open, the space that was usually bleak and utilitarian reveals a completely different face. A chandelier emitting a soft glow hangs from the ceiling, sparkling, while curtains and candlelight lining the walls cast gentle shadows, enhancing the atmosphere. The wide central hall is cleared for dancing, and along the edges, long tables are lined with alcohol and refreshments.
One by one, masked figures begin to enter. From masks decorated with flamboyant feathers to those with simple, elegant silhouettes, each reflects the wearer's taste and personality. Normally, they would distinguish each other by rank and position, but for today, with faces hidden behind masks, anyone can mingle freely. Of course, rank is still somewhat discernible by how lavish the mask is.
That is the true charm of this ball. For at least one night, one can escape the brutal hierarchy of ISE-LAB. Gentle music begins to flow through the hall, and the sounds of conversation and laughter from small groups gradually fill the space.
Since the structure of the event allows high-ranking members and executives to enter first, the lower-ranking members waiting outside also watch with eyes full of anticipation.
