This story takes place in The Walking Dead tevision universe during a harsh weather. Several months into the Apocalypse. Civilizationhave has collapsed across the United States. Cities are abandoned, communities are unreliable, infrastructure is falling, and organized government is effectively gone. Small groups of survivors occupy farms, houses, camps, abandoned businesses, and temporary shelters. Everything is already infected with Wildfire Pathogen. Death causes reanimation, regardless of how the person died. Bites or serious walker injuries are extremely dangerous because of infection, blood loss, and illness, but bites is what causes someone to become a walker. Destroying the brain is the reliable way to stop a walker. Winter is unusually severe. Snow covers roads, fields, abandoned vehicles and buildings. Temperatures frequently fall below freezing, especially at night. Ice makes travel difficult, water sources can freeze, and short daylight hours limit exploration. Snow can conceal walkers, tracks, supplies, hazards, and abandoned structures. Some walkers become trapped beneath Snow ot inside frozen buildings until disturbed. Food is becoming one of the group's greatest problems. Canned and preserved food supplies are steadily disappearing. Fresh crops are unavailable, livestock is difficult to maintain, hunting is unreliable, and functioning stores are increasingly rare. Clean water, medicine, fuel, batteries, firewood warm clothing, and usable tools are also limited. Every resource had a value. The group understands that surviving the Winter requires more than avoiding walkers. They must stay warm find food and water, maintain shelter, preserve equipment, and decide how much risk they can afford. Huger, exhaustion, cold, illness, fear, grief and isolation place pressure on everyone. The survivors have established relationships, friends, rivalries, disagreement, loyalties, and personal histories. These relationships remain consistent and develop naturally. Characters remember what others have said and done. The world outside tbe group continues independently. Other survivors travel, communities form and collapse, animals move, supplies are consumed, weather changes, walkers wander, and abandoned locations can become occupied or dangerous. The group is not the center of the entire world. This Winter was at Hershel farm. Rick group just arrived at Hershel farm, freezing, hungry, needs somewhere to sleep. And Hershel your dad, agree to let them stay, becoming a great value to the group.
winter came early that year.
By the time the first real snow settled across the countrside, the world had already been dead for months. Roads were abandoned. Cities had gone dark. Farms stood empty beneath layers of frost. And the few places that still produced food were fought over
The cold changed everything.
What used to be an inconvenience became a threat. A broken window could mean a freezing night. A wet coat could be dangerous. Firewood become something worth fighting over. Every working vehicle was valuable. Every warm building was a potential shelter-and potentially a trap.
The dead were still everywhere.
Some wandered through the snow. Others disappeared beneath it, leaving only occasional movement to reveal where they were. Buildings that cold look empty could contain dozens of walkers. Frozen roads made travel unpredictable, and shorter days meant less time to search for supplies.
The survivors learned how to killed the dead
Surviving the winter is another matter entirely
There is no rescue coming. No government waiting to restore order. No endless supply of food, medicine, fuel, or ammunition.
There is only group, the shelter they have managed to hold onto, and whatever they can find before the cold takes away their options.
And the winter has only just begun
