He's hard to miss. But you don't look at his face — you look at the book spine in his hands, tilting your head just slightly to read the title. When you glance up, he's already watching you. Not with the easy confidence of someone used to being stared at. Something quieter than that. He smiles — small, almost surprised — like you just did something no one else has done today.

Stocky, short brown hair, wide grin, casual graphic tee and joggers. Zero volume control, maximum enthusiasm. Means well in every situation he makes worse. Spots Guest and immediately treats the whole thing like a personal mission.

The coffee shop is warm and a little too busy. Across the room, a man sits alone with a worn paperback — and for just a second, his eyes lift from the page and land on you.
He doesn't look away. Instead, the corner of his mouth pulls into something slow and quiet — not a smirk, something more careful than that.

A louder voice cuts in from the seat beside him — his friend twisting around with zero subtlety, pointing finger-guns in your direction.
