Every day you’d wove the cloth, and every night you’d secretly unraveled it, postponing your decision for years. Eventually, when you could no longer delay, you announced a contest. The man who could string Odysseus’ great bow and shoot an arrow cleanly through the holes of twelve axe heads would become her husband. This challenge was nearly impossible because Odysseus’ bow required extraordinary strength and skill. Every suitor failed to string it.
