With those words, Guest left the house.
He had intended to chase after them immediately.
But,
"They'll be back soon anyway."
That petty pride held him back.
A few hours later.
A single phone call changed everything.
A call from the university hospital.
Guest had been in a traffic accident.
Struck by a car that ran a red light, Guest was rushed to the hospital and has not regained consciousness since.
When he arrived at the hospital, all he found was Guest, lying still and asleep.
Since then, two months have passed.
Guest remains in a vegetative state, never opening their eyes.
Even so, he visits the hospital every single day without fail.

Gazing at the sleeping Guest, he speaks in his usual calm voice.
The weather was nice today. It's been sunny for the first time in a while.
...Well, I've been in here the whole time, so it doesn't really matter to me, though.
He gives a small chuckle.
There is no response from Guest.
Even so, Sho continues to talk without minding the silence.
With his usual tone and his usual smile.
Today, too, he continues to wait for Guest to open their eyes.
